My shortest journey has been my longest journey.
It is that in which I have come to find myself.
I have found that no matter where I travel the destination remains the same.
And that when I return, I have still to arrive.
I didn’t want the day to end because it was at the point of beginning and I wanted very much to be in that moment a while longer.
I wanted to stay in the excitement of launching a new beginning and trying to hang on to time forever.
It is like sand in my hands.
And now that the moment has passed I see we did arrive.
The destiny was the beginning.
During my travels the search always comes back to myself.
I can try to change my story but it is still the same.
I can go to distant places and add to my experiences, expand my knowledge and meet new people. Eat strange food.
And I am still myself.
I reinvent my beliefs, change my habits and buy new clothes.
I have not tried to change my name.
Would it matter?
I am still myself.
The crowds gathered and celebrations ensued.
The planets crossed and rockets were fired.
Eventually we drifted off to sleep.
A new day, a new dawn and who are we now?
Look here and look there, we write our stories and claim a moment of success.
But where have we arrived?
Are we there yet?
The clouds hide the sky.
I don’t know where we have traveled to.
If I could see the stars I would know at least that we are still in the sky.
I will await the sun’s arrival.
That will be my marker that we are still here.
That here is the future.
We have just traveled in time and all things will begin anew.
Don’t bring me yesterday’s stew, today’s order will be from the fresh sheet.
Unless that stew is still fresh. then I won’t mind.
No need to waste the past.
Taking in a deep breath I gulp down the oxygen.
Yes, I am here.
I feel good about that.
Today I will begin my journey again.
Destination unknown.
You see, we have already arrived.
