The bee hovered in front of me with wings beating so fast I welcomed it as a tiny fan.
I looked at it and it looked back at me. Clearly we were observing each other.
Why would a bee be interested in me I wondered?

These must be drones from another galaxy and are here to study us.
This little drone could be sending information back to a collective somewhere.
The drone darted to the side and went back into hover mode.

See. That supports my theory.
It wanted another angle on the observation. Maybe a better look at my ears.
With my summer haircut my ears stick out and look somewhat elfish.
Maybe this bee is trying to decide if I am a n Elf.

A white butterfly comes from behind me in its delicate bouncy flight.
I focus on it to see it better and it turns a corner and is gone.
I didn’t have time to clearly see, but it could have been a fairy on a leisure outing.

The trees I planted 20 years ago are now towering in my backyard.
The birds are sitting in various treed positions joining in the morning choir.
The chorus fills the air, as a slight breeze brings in the wind chime percussion.
A slightly higher air current grabs tree branches and they sway in tune to the music.

My tiny fan friend has departed. but the air is filled with multiple tiny wings darting into blossoms that are slowly opening in the morning’s progression.
Last evening’s west facing sunflowers have already turned to the east.
Not fully developed yet as flowers, the young buds show great promise and the juvenile stalks are displaying responsible sunflower behavior.

A stronger breeze rustles the cherry leaves and even motivates the great spruce to wave her heavily laden pine cone branches.
Her movement is slow and graceful like a dancing native grandmother who moves with intention and purpose.
Sunlight glistens off the sap formed at the bottom of each cone.
In the sun’s rays, sap sparkles like tiny crystals hanging as jeweled ornamentation.

A crow lands on her strong branching and joins the morning fray.
Less as a part of the chorus he speaks in broadcasting notes making declarations about this and that.
A day has begun in earnest as he shifts the intention and the songbirds go quiet.
The wind chimes take over and the air is filled with the trees’ soft comments.

Such a busy morning and yet the calm and relaxation that nature instills within us is a miracle to behold.
How is it that something so simple reaches so deep within us?
It is evident to me that nature is not outside of us. It is a connection we all have at a very basic level.
When we take time to be still and sit with it, maybe one will realize that we are not separate from it but a part of it.
Just as the drone s*y took time to examine me, so can we engage with nature.

There are so many ways to do this.
You could go hiking to alpine lakes or set sail for a day on the water.
You could adventure to Machu Picchu or you can simply open your window.
Nature is all around us and there is no right or wrong way to engage with it.

Engaging with it is the key.

Nature is ready to connect with us because it is within us. It is our base. It is our balance.
Once in it perhaps we can find our way back to harmony within ourselves.

To me nature is anything out of doors that comes from the natural world.
The sky, the ground as dirt, the fresh air we breathe, the unbottled water we drink.
As long as these are not manipulations of man, it qualifies.

I am blessed to have my back yard.
I do like going out away from my home and finding that perfect walk by a creek or discovering a waterfall filled with maidenhair ferns.
But usually all one needs to do is step outside and you will find nature at your fingertips.
She is Gaia and she is ready to connect with you whenever and however it works for you.
All you need to do is do it.
