Beyond the Present: Why Focusing on “What-Is” Could Be Holding You Back
How many times have you heard someone advise you to “face the facts” or “be realistic”? While these well-meaning friends and family members often believe they are grounding you, they might actually be anchoring you to the very circumstances you are trying to change. According to the teachings found in The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham, there is a profound difference between observing your current reality and creating your future.
The core challenge with constantly focusing on “what-is” is psychological and energetic. When your thoughts are consumed exclusively by your current circumstances—whether it be your bank balance, your workspace, or your daily routine—you are essentially broadcasting a signal that reinforces those exact conditions. Because the Law of Attraction works by responding to the vibration of your thoughts, an exclusive focus on your current reality acts as a magnetic anchor, attracting more of the same experiences into your life.
To manifest change, you must learn to look beyond the immediate. This doesn’t mean ignoring your responsibilities or avoiding the truth of your current situation. Instead, it means cultivating the ability to hold a vision of something different, something more, even when the evidence of that vision hasn’t appeared in your physical reality yet. By shifting your mental focus toward your goals and desired outcomes, you begin to change your vibrational state, which in turn draws new opportunities and circumstances toward you.
Ultimately, your capacity to dream beyond your present reality is your greatest tool for growth. When you stop using your current state as the sole indicator of what is possible, you break the cycle of repetition and open the door to true transformation. Start by gently redirecting your thoughts toward the future version of your life you wish to build, and you will find that “reality” eventually begins to shift to match the vision of your mind.
