St. Germain: Love Remembering Itself

You have been taught to associate love with holding, with choosing one person above all others, with building your safety around their presence and calling the intensity of that need love.

Yet love and attachment arise from very different places within consciousness.

Love says, “I see myself in you.”

Attachment says, “I need your particular form in order to experience what awakens in me when I am with you.”

Love expands your field. Attachment concentrates your field around one form and asks that form to remain the same so that your inner world may continue feeling safe.

Imagine the ocean creating a wave. The wave rises, becomes magnificent, catches the sunlight, and for a moment appears completely unique. Another wave looks at it and says, “There you are. You are the one I have been waiting for.”

Yet both waves are made of the same ocean.

This is the great remembrance within conscious love.

The person you love is another expression of the same consciousness looking through different eyes, carrying another history, another body, another fragrance, another way of moving through existence. When you recognize this deeply, love becomes immensely intimate and beautifully spacious at the same time.

You can adore someone completely while allowing them to remain free.

Detachment is therefore a deeper form of intimacy. You see the being beyond the role they play in your life. You recognize the consciousness beneath the personality, and you understand that what you experience through them belongs to a much greater field.

Human conditioning has created the mythology of “the only one,” as though the infinite could place all of love inside one human form and leave the rest of creation empty.

Consciousness is far more generous than this.

A person may be extraordinarily significant to you. You may share a profound resonance, a beautiful agreement, an ancient familiarity, or a meeting that transforms the direction of your entire life. Their uniqueness can be honored fully while you remember that the source of love remains infinite.

Think of sunlight entering a cathedral through a stained-glass window. You may fall in love with the particular blue, gold and crimson patterns dancing across the floor, yet the light itself comes from something far greater than the window.

The beloved is a window. And so are you.

When attachment arises, bring your attention away from the question, “How do I keep this person?” and toward the deeper question, “What part of the infinite am I experiencing through this person?”

Perhaps they awaken tenderness. Perhaps freedom. Perhaps sensuality, joy, safety, playfulness, devotion, or the feeling of being deeply seen.

Recognize that quality as consciousness awakening within you.

You can love without gripping, choose without possessing, commit without imprisoning, and experience profound intimacy while remaining rooted in your own infinite nature.

Look into the eyes of the one you love and silently remember:

“There I am, appearing as you.”

And perhaps, somewhere beneath personality and story, consciousness looks back through their eyes and whispers:

“There I am, appearing as you.” This is love remembering itself.
